Academic Visitor Positions: New Insights and Directions for Religious Epistemology (EXPIRED)

The Project “New Insights and Directions for Religious Epistemology” seeks to host up to nine academic visitors over a period of three years. Each visitor will be hosted for up to the duration of a single Oxford academic term (eight weeks). Travel and subsistence expenses will be paid up to a pre-agreed limit.

To be eligible to be considered for one of these positions, prospective visitors must hold a teaching or research post in another University, demonstrate expertise in areas which are directly relevant to the Project, and show evidence of an ability and willingness to undertake advanced research in connection with the Project’s aims. Applications are encouraged not only from philosophers, but also from suitably qualified scientists and theologians with relevant research interests. The Project will be running workshops on six themes, in line with the following timetable:

6. Epistemological issues arising from the etiology of religious belief - Hilary Term 2015

Prospective visitors who intend to apply for one of these positions and who intend to work on one of these topics are strongly encouraged, where possible, to plan the timing of their application and their visit accordingly. 

During the period of their visit, the successful candidates will be expected to conduct research on a paper or a monograph related to opening up new streams of thought in religious epistemology. The intention of these visiting positions is to provide research time to enable such a paper or monograph to be completed and published. Visitors to the Project may also be asked to give a public lecture on the subject of their research.
