Job description

The University of Richmond invites applications or nominations for the Tucker-Boatwright Professorship of Humanities. This is a tenured position in the Department of Philosophy beginning August 2012. Candidates must be eligible for appointment at the rank of professor and must have at least 10 years of teaching experience. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding teacher and scholar with a distinguished record of publication and professional service. Teaching responsibilities will support the undergraduate philosophy curriculum and may also support the University’s interdisciplinary programs, for example in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) and/or Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law (PPEL). The successful candidate must meet all position requirements at the time of selection. For more information on the department and its programs, see (http://www.philosophy.richmond.edu). Applicants should apply online at https://www.urjobs.org using the Faculty (Instruction/Research) link. They will be asked to supply a curriculum vitae, a summary of current teaching and research interests, and a list of three references. The search committee will begin to review applications and nominations on November 1, and will continue to consider candidates until the position is filled. Nominations and inquiries may be directed to Dr. Nancy Schauber, Chair of the Department of Philosophy, electronically at [email protected]. The University of Richmond is a highly selective, private institution that is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body and to being an inclusive community.
