The Department of Philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno, seeks candidates for a tenure-track assistant or early associate professor position to begin Fall 2013.
The normal teaching load is 3 courses per semester. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and service to the university. Some core curriculum teaching is required. Undergraduate and graduate student advisement, including M.A. thesis supervision.
Required Qualifications
All requirements for the Ph.D. in Philosophy must be completed by July 1, 2013.
AOS: political philosophy, philosophy of law, or ethics, with political philosophy or philosophy of law preferred. The successful candidate must have a strong record of research in addition to experience and promise as an excellent teacher.
AOC: history of philosophy.
Preferred Qualifications
Other things being equal, some preference will be given to candidate with interests in areas such as feminism or Latin American philosophy.
