Job description

The University of Richmond Jepson School of Leadership Studies and School of Law invite nominations and applications for an endowed professorship to be shared between the two schools. We seek candidates with a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching, or a similarly distinguished record of public service, and we anticipate an appointment at the full professor level.  The ideal candidate will have earned J.D. and Ph.D. degrees, although we are open to considering candidates who have one or the other.  Our vision is for the Tyler Haynes Professor to conduct interdisciplinary research and teach in an interdisciplinary environment.  To complement current strengths, we are especially interested in candidates whose research interests lie in the criminal justice system, the Supreme Court, healthcare, housing, immigration, social welfare, education policy, or institutional design and analysis, although any area of interest with crossover appeal to law and leadership will be considered. Successful candidates will teach courses in the Jepson School of Leadership Studies and the School of Law.

Applications and inquiries may be directed to Sandra Peart and Jessica Erickson at [email protected].  Candidates should attach a cover letter and curriculum vitae.  In their cover letters, candidates should address how their scholarly and teaching interests, or record of public service, connect to the study of leadership and law.  Cover letters should also specify how the applicant might contribute to the imperatives of diversity and inclusion in the classroom.

The University of Richmond is a nationally ranked liberal arts university offering a unique combination of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in arts and sciences, business, leadership studies, law, and continuing studies. The Jepson School of Leadership Studies offers students the opportunity to major or minor in Leadership Studies and provides a challenging liberal arts curriculum designed to educate students for, and about, leadership.  The Law School offers a curriculum that combines sophisticated legal theory with opportunities to put theory into practice, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to make valuable contributions to the legal system.  For additional information about the two schools, see http://jepson.richmond.edu/ and https://law.richmond.edu/.

The University of Richmond is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body, and to modeling an inclusive campus community which values the expression of difference in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, personal development, and institutional success. Our academic community strongly encourages applications that are in keeping with this commitment.
