Job description |
The Philosophy Department and Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology (PNP) Program invite applications for a full-time faculty position in Philosophy, including affiliation with the PNP Program. Rank: Open. AOS: Any relevant area, including Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Psychology, Philosophy of Cognitive Science, and Philosophy of Neuroscience. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests fit well with the interdisciplinary spirit of the PNP program and whose presence would enhance the standing of the program and of the Philosophy Department. PNP includes, in addition to a sizeable undergraduate major, a track within the Ph.D. program in Philosophy, and enjoys strong curricular and collaborative connections with colleagues in neuroscience, psychology, and related disciplines. Responsibilities include teaching (four courses per year, two per semester), writing for publication, thesis supervision, and normal non-teaching departmental and university duties. A PhD in a relevant field is required at any level. In addition, candidates at or above the associate professor rank must, through research and publication, have made a significant contribution to Philosophy. Salary is competitive. Diversity and inclusion are core values at Washington University, and the strong candidate will demonstrate the ability to create inclusive classrooms and environments in which a diverse array of students can learn and thrive. Washington University is an equal opportunity employer and seeks an exceptionally qualified and diverse faculty; women, minorities, protected veterans, and candidates with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is closed. To ensure full consideration, candidates for Assistant Professor should send a curriculum vitae, three (3) letters of reference, a succinct writing sample, evidence of teaching excellence, and a brief statement of teaching interests by November 1st, 2018, to the Department’s administrator, Dee Stewart, [email protected].
