Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Muhlenberg College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Philosophy, beginning Fall 2019. AOS: Value Theory broadly construed to include Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics, and/or Philosophy of Law (not Aesthetics), with special need also for Latin American & Caribbean or Africana Philosophy. AOC: any of the following: Ancient or Global History of Philosophy, Medical Humanities, Interdisciplinary Humanities. The college prizes integrative learning and interdisciplinary collaboration across the curriculum, and a successful candidate must demonstrate potential for working across disciplinary lines. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization and competence, contributing to the College’s Integrative Learning curricular requirement and possibly to other interdisciplinary programs, advising undergraduate students, participating in faculty governance, and providing service to the Department and College. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in philosophy by the date of appointment and must demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. 

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a writing sample, a teaching statement and evidence of teaching excellence.
