Job description |
Boston College. Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track. The Department of Philosophy at Boston College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Philosophy. AOS: Science and Values, including areas such as bioethics, philosophy of health humanities, emerging health care technologies, philosophy of technology, issues of justice in public health access and policy, and global health. AOC: Open Responsibilities include undergraduate core and elective courses and graduate courses (2-2 course load) plus Ph.D. supervision and service to the department. Candidates will be expected to contribute courses to the new undergraduate Global Public Health academic program that will be associated with the Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society (https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/mcas/sites/schiller-institute.html). The department makes a significant contribution to the university Core Curriculum, https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/philosophy/undergraduate/core-in-philosophy.html which includes providing support for two interdisciplinary Core programs, one in the study of major philosophical and theological texts (Perspectives on Western Culture) and one in a social justice program of ethical, political, and theological analysis for students engaged in service learning (PULSE Program). Ability to contribute to all of the above will be regarded as an asset.
