| Details | Assistant or early Associate Professor, tenure-track, beginning fall semester 2013. Four courses per year (2 per semester), undergraduate and graduate, thesis and dissertation supervision, and normal non-teaching duties. Ph.D. required prior to appointment. AOS: Any area in the history of philosophy prior to 1800. The successful candidate must also have a serious research interest in some area of contemporary philosophy and a strong teaching record. The Philosophy Department has a cooperative, constructive attitude towards philosophy. It values diversity among students, faculty and staff. Along with other considerations, candidates will be evaluated in terms of their ability to contribute in some way to the department's diversity mission. The University of Missouri has a good track record with spousal accommodation, and Columbia is a vibrant college town with a very high quality of life. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Some summer teaching is occasionally possible. At least a semester of research leave is normally available prior to tenure. We have an active speaker series and new faculty will be able to direct a Kline workshop.
