Job description

Arcadia University invites applications to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS), to begin in fall 2019. HAPS is an inter-disciplinary department with three undergraduate majors (History, International Studies, and Politics, Government & Law), six undergraduate minors (History, International Studies, Law & Public Policy, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religion) and one Master’s program (International Peace and Conflict Resolution).  Most HAPS faculty members teach in multiple areas of the department as per their areas of expertise.

The ideal candidate should have expertise in social and/or political philosophy, with thematic specialization in ethics and/or religious philosophy. The ideal candidate should be able to offer courses such as introduction to political theory, political thought or American political thought, applied logic, ethics, and courses on religious philosophy(ies). Candidates whose work addresses philosophy’s intersection with contemporary social and political life, including the politics of religion, will receive special consideration.
