The College of Arts, Letters and Education invites applications for a Lecturer position in Philosophy, housed in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL), to begin mid-September 2019. The Philosophy program is seeking a colleague with a strong commitment to students, collegiality, and public philosophy. The faculty member hired for this position will be welcomed into an academic community dedicated to cultural diversity, community engagement, and social justice. Teaching: a typical workload for this position will involve 45 quarter credits per academic year, subject to department needs. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in the areas of Introductory Philosophy, Introductory Ethics, Critical Thinking, Contemporary Moral Issues, Philosophy and Popular Culture, Advanced Ethics and/or Analytic Philosophy. Additional duties as deemed by the Chair of the department may be added to these responsibilities. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.
