The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor, beginning Fall 2013.  We are chiefly interested in candidates with AOS in analytic philosophy who can teach courses in such areas as E&M, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and the history of 20th-Century philosophy.  The successful candidate must have competence to teach, and interest in, the required Core Curriculum course “Foundations of Logical Reasoning.”  Teaching load is four courses per semester – typically one upper-level course and three sections of the Core course.  There will also be opportunities to offer First- and Second-Year Seminars.  Summer teaching possible.  Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental and university decision-making, curriculum development, and advising of majors.  Ph.D., publications (or other evidence of a strong scholarly record), and evidence of  teaching effectiveness required.  The successful candidate will be the 7th member of a collegial and philosophically pluralistic department.  For more information about the department, please visit http://www.bridgew.edu/philosophy.   Interested applicants should apply online at http://jobs.bridgew.edu and attach the following documents to their online application:  a letter of interest, CV, sample of written work, and supporting materials.  Please mail three letters of recommendation to: Search Chair, Dept. of Philosophy, Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater MA 02325.  Deadline: December 1st.  AA/EOE.
