Job description |
The Philosophy Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of one year, beginning fall semester of 2019, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The candidate must have a PhD by summer 2019, and be well-placed to teach three sections of our introductory ethics course, Philosophy and Morality, and two upper-division courses in ethics, construed as including applied ethics and social and political philosophy. We seek an outstanding and supportive teacher who can make philosophy interesting and relevant to a diverse student body, and who will reach out to students from underrepresented groups in philosophy. A successful candidate will also be ready to engage with relevant work in feminist ethics in their teaching.
