Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Skidmore College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor (for sabbatical replacement), beginning in Fall 2019. AOS: Open; AOC: Asian Philosophy. Our department has strengths in Ancient Philosophy, Early Modern Philosophy, Late Modern European and American Philosophy, and Aesthetics, and so preference will be given to candidates who have teaching abilities in other areas. The teaching expectation will be 18 credit hours per year, divided among five courses (a 3-2 load). Ph.D. in philosophy is expected at time of appointment, although ABDs will be considered provided they anticipate completing the Ph.D. before Fall 2019.

Candidates should submit all materials online by February 18, 2019, including a cover letter, a current CV, graduate transcripts, evidence of effective teaching, a sample syllabus for a course in Asian philosophy (any topic or level), a writing sample, and three letters of reference.
