The Department of Philosophy at Kent State University invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable, sabbatical replacement (non-tenure track) faculty position to begin in August, 2019. Teaching load is four courses (three preps) per semester including upper division courses. The Department is home to a MA degree program, and the successful candidate may participate in graduate instruction, thesis advisory groups, and mentoring of the graduate students. AOS: Open. AOC: include 19th & 20th century French and German philosophy. Ph.D. in Philosophy at time of application required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate ability to teach our German Critical Philosophy course (PHIL 31005, described in the catalog), which is a designated Writing Intensive Course. Ability to teach Environmental Ethics, Existentialism, and Hermeneutics also preferred. Submit dossier including vita, letter of application, three letters of recommendation, research statement, teaching statement, and sample syllabi through Interfolio.
