Department of Philosophy Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a one-year full-time term position at the rank of Assistant Professor with the Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will specialize in Social and Political Philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in these areas at both the undergraduate and graduate level and to contribute to the department’s MA program. The candidate will have a regular departmental teaching load of 12 credit units (4 courses) over the fall and winter terms, in addition to 3 credit units (1 course) at the graduate level. The courses the successful candidate will be expected to teach include Introduction to Ethics and Values (1st year), Philosophy of Sexuality (2nd year), Social and Political Philosophy (2nd year), Topics in Political Philosophy (3rd year), and Seminar in Social and Political Philosophy (graduate). The candidate will also be expected to pursue a vigorous research program and to participate in administrative functions commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor. We welcome linkages to current areas of research strength within the Department including Aesthetics, Philosophy of Science, Value Theory, and Philosophy of Mathematics. Competence in the History of Philosophy would also be an asset. The University of Saskatchewan’s main campus is situated on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. Qualifications We are seeking candidates who have a strong or emerging research program; demonstrated effective classroom teaching skills and mentorship; the equivalent of two years of teaching experience; and effective interpersonal and communication skills. A completed Ph.D. by the date of appointment is required. Salary band for this position: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109.
