Assistant Professor (Contractually Limited Appointment)

The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a one-year, contractually limited position to begin July 1, 2019 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to applicants qualified to teach courses in ancient philosophy, critical thinking, and either early modern philosophy or philosophy, law and society. The successful applicant will be asked to teach eighteen units (6 courses) as well as perform substantial service duties in support of the maintenance and enrichment of the undergraduate intellectual community. The minimum starting salary for the one-year period for an assistant professor will be $78,344.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in philosophy, in hand or near completion by the starting date, previous teaching experience and demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in philosophy. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the research and administrative activities of the department.
