Philosophy is a pluralistic department composed of faculty members with research specializations in analytic and continental traditions. The department offers courses covering a broad range of the history of philosophy from the pre-Socratics to Quine and Levinas, as well as topic areas from metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and logic to phenomenology and semiotics. We stand apart from other departments offering bachelors and master's degrees because we are uniquely situated in the Borderland region of the United States, and many of our undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff are bilingual, speaking and writing in both English and Spanish. Job Description The University of Texas at El Paso Philosophy Department invites applications for a one year, non-tenure track, full time Lecturer for fall 2019 and spring and summer 2020 beginning August 20, 2019. Position possibly renewable after one year with satisfactory performance. The successful candidate will be joining a diverse department that offers undergraduate minors and majors with a master's program. Salary competitive. Requirements Master's in Philosophy required. PhD in Philosophy preferred, by at least September 1, 2019. Area of Specialization/Area of Competence open, with demonstrated ability to teach large introductory survey, ethics, and Modern Philosophy courses. Ability to teach undergraduate courses online.
