The Department of Philosophy and Religion in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, term faculty appointment in applied ethics, at the rank of Professorial Lecturer, for Academic Year 2019-2020. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 26, 2019. Applicants should hold a PhD or other terminal degree. Highly qualified applicants with a master’s degree related to Philosophy will be considered. The position will require the incumbent to teach three courses per semester (fall and spring). Teaching duties include introductory courses in ethical theory and applied ethics as well as at least one MA-level course in the history of Western philosophy. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service. Salary and benefits are competitive for a full-time term appointment.
