The Department of Philosophy at Le Moyne College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor who specializes in an area of Applied Ethics. Le Moyne College is a small liberal arts college founded by the Jesuits in Syracuse, NY. Its mission emphasizes education of the whole person and preparation of individuals for leadership and service to promote a more just society. This aim is reflected in an humanities-based core curriculum, which cultivates the knowledge, skills, and imagination requisite for living meaningful and ethically sound lives. The College is also committed to preparing students for successful careers, and it has been expanding academic programming to meet student interest in pre-professional areas such as Business, Nursing, and, most recently, Risk Management and Insurance. The McNeil Professorship of Applied Ethics was created, in part, to support the Risk Management and Insurance program. As such, it grows out of the College’s commitment to affirming the enduring relevance of humanities in all areas of practical life.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or have received a Ph.D. by time of appointment, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and have an active agenda of high quality research.
