Appointment Duration: 12 Month
Position Responsibilities: To provide academic, administrative, and intellectual leadership to the Department. To provide leadership in student recruitment; faculty recruitment, development and evaluation; program assessment and accreditation; community/university relations and long range planning; coordinate course scheduling and program advisement. Perform appropriate teaching assignment and participate in scholarly and service activities.
Minimum Requirements: Required: Ph.D. in one of the disciplines within the Department (history, geography, justice studies, philosophy, political science, sociology, social work) or related discipline; significant record of teaching and scholarly accomplishments warranting tenure, and record of administrative and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred: grant writing experience, effective leadership and communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with colleagues, students, and the public in a diverse environment.

Other Information: The Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences, one of 13 departments within the College of Arts and Sciences, includes the fields of history, geography, justice studies, philosophy, political science, social work and sociology. The Department has 28 full-time faculty (24 tenured/tenure-earning) and over 500 majors.
