Job description

ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIP (TENURE TRACK)

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Teaching five undergraduate classes (17 credit hours) each year (i.e., 3 classes one semester followed by 2 the next, or the equivalent).  Engaging in academic research, which includes presentation and publication of scholarly work; attending professional meetings; and participating in professional organizations.  Advising students and serving the department, university, profession, and community. The successful candidate must offer classes that contribute to Trinity’s First-Year Experience or Interdisciplinary Clusters, and that facilitate Trinity’s engagement in experiential learning, faculty-led study abroad programs, or interdisciplinary initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Recent Ph.D. (or near Ph.D.) in philosophy.  

QUALITIES AND SKILLS:  Strong potential for teaching undergraduates; strong potential for scholarship; strong potential for service to the department, university, and community.

SALARY:  Competitive.

THE DEPARTMENT:  The department offers both a major and a minor in philosophy.  It offers a strong and well-balanced curriculum and a dedicated and productive faculty.  There are six full-time members in the department.
