Job description

Jewish Studies: The Institute of Jewish Thought and Heritage (IJTH) at the University at Buffalo, SUNY, invites applications at the Assistant Professor level, tenure track, to begin fall 2013.  Area of expertise open, but no duplication of present faculty expertise desired, and broad areas such as Jewish political philosophy or biblical Judaism, preferred. The IJTH was formally inaugurated in fall 2008 with the goal of swift development into a B.A. (already in place), M.A. and Ph.D. granting Department of Jewish Studies.  The department is concerned with all elements of Jewish civilization and history, with a special emphasis on ethics, philosophy, Jewish thought and hermeneutic theory.  Normal teaching load: two courses per semester.  To apply, visit: http//www.UBJOBS.buffalo.edu (Posting # 1200680) and include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation by December 1, 2012 for interviews conducted at the Association of Jewish Studies annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois, December 16-18, 2012.
