Job description

King’s University College at Western University, a Catholic Liberal Arts College, invites applications for a probationary tenure-track appointment in Ethics in the Department of Philosophy, effective July 1, 2020. The area of specialization is Ethics broadly understood. The area of competence is open, but the department welcomes various approaches to contemporary ethical issues from a global, non-canonical, and cross-cultural perspective. The Department of Philosophy is a small but outstanding department with diverse research interests and teaching strengths. Our Faculty are passionate teachers, established scholars, and members of the School of Graduate and Post-Graduate Studies at Western. 

Candidates should have a PhD in Philosophy by the start date of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain an active research program and to develop and teach courses in human rights and socio-political ethics, environmental ethics and justice, and ethics of technology, as well as advanced courses in ethics. The teaching load at King’s is 2.5 courses per year.  The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
