The postdoc researcher will be based in the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen. The Faculty of Philosophy is a rich and lively community of excellent lecturers and researchers. Job description


The project "Naturalism and Teleology in Spinoza's Philosophy" is funded by the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung and led by Martin Lenz. The postdoc candidate will conduct independent research on Spinoza's theoretical and practical philosophy with special emphasis on the conatus doctrine. The outcome should consist in a number of articles to be published in high-profile journals or in a monograph.


Qualifications


Candidates:

  • have or will soon have completed a PhD in philosophy
  • have a strong background in early modern philosophy
  • have systematic as well as historical interests
  • are prepared to come to Groningen for the period of the research project
  • are fluent in English
  • and are prepared to collaborate with other members of the department of the history of philosophy.

Conditions of employment


The University of Groningen offers a salary dependent on qualifications and work experience up with a minimum of € 2,861 gross per month (scale 10) to a maximum of € 3,195 gross per month (scale 11.0) for a full-time job. The full-time appointment of this postdoc researcher is for a period of two years. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for the University of Groningen.


The postdoc researcher will start at latest at the 1st of January 2013.
