Job description |
Position Summary: The Department of Philosophy and the Brain Institute at Florida Atlantic University invite applications for an Associate Professor of Philosophy to begin August 2020. This is an endowed position with significant research support, and the successful candidate will be named the Dietrich Chair in Philosophy. The successful candidate will teach courses for the Department of Philosophy and the College of Arts and Letters’ interdisciplinary graduate programs, and be an active contributor to the research initiatives associated with FAU’s Brain Institute –a research pillar of the university housed within the Division of Research. The Dietrich Chair in Philosophy will be an experienced and dynamic individual who can work collaboratively to build intellectual bridges across the University, through the development of a long-term research agenda that opens new avenues of research while complementing and enhancing existing research programs.The teaching load for this position is 2/1 and includes summer support. A research budget is also included.The successful candidate will be expected to mount an innovative, externally supported research program in partnership with researchers in FAU’s Brain Institute and the College of Arts and Letters. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Philosophy from an accredited institution with a specialization in Philosophy of Mind, Cognitive Science, Consciousness, Neuroscience, and/or Artificial Intelligence required.
