Job description

University Ethics Officer

Penn State is seeking a University Ethics Officer to help communicate the University's ethical values, and develop and communicate standards, policies and practices to a broad number of University constituents. The University Ethics Officer develops, implements and supports programs and policies involving the University ethics, values and culture. The University Ethics Officer will work with a broad cross section of functional groups to review and assess all University ethics and related policies, codes of conduct, and related materials; provide research, guidance, leadership, and assess the feasibility of development of ethics statements, policies, and procedures; work with relevant stakeholders to regularly assess and enhance commitment to the organization's ethics and values; consult with relevant stakeholders (including but not limited to the Rock Ethics Institute, Office of Human Resources, The Graduate School, Student Affairs, and Office of Undergraduate Education) to create educational resources and provide ethics training materials; coordinate the ongoing development, administration, and dissemination of results of the Penn State Values & Culture Survey; coordinate AD 86 approval requests and provide with consultation with the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer on conflict-of-interest matters; attend relevant conferences and review literature in order to update procedures based on current best practices, legal updates, and/or other benchmark data. In addition, this position will work with the internal and external Ethics & Compliance professionals to coordinate, assess and improve the ethics programs, policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will also have experience in conflict of interest situations and relatable experience in higher education. This position is located at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree and/or J.D. is preferred.
