Overview

LSAC develops and administers the Law School Admission Tests (LSAT), the only standardized test accepted by all accredited law schools in the United States and Canada. The test helps law schools make sound admission decisions by providing a standard measure of the acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that are essential for students’ success in law school.

Position Summary:

We are looking for an individual to join our team of Test Developers at our headquarters in Newtown, PA. Test developers are test content specialists who are responsible for creating test items for the LSAT, assuring the quality of LSAT test items, and participating in various phases of test development work and test-related research projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, review, and revise questions that are designed to assess high level reading, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills
  • Ensure that LSAT questions are fair to all members of the diverse LSAT test taking population
  • May assist in the review and development of informational and test preparation materials and in research related to the LSAT
  • May assist in various projects pertinent to the development and administration of the LSAT

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an MA degree (PhD preferred) in a discipline requiring strong reading, reasoning, and analytical skills (such disciplines include, but are not limited to, philosophy, theoretical linguistics, history, classics, and English)
  • A broad background in the liberal arts
  • Training in logic
  • College level teaching experience is desirable
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and/or tutoring assessment test questions is a plus
  • Must possess a precise and fluent understanding of Standard Written English
  • Must possess strong analytical skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Must have excellent organization skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
