Job description

Mississippi University for Women invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Philosophy, beginning mid-August 2020. The successful candidate will demonstrate the qualifications and enthusiasm to teach a broad range of philosophy courses in the Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy with majors in English, Spanish, and Women’s Studies, and minors in Philosophy and Religious Studies. We are an interdisciplinary faculty, and we seek a colleague to help us diversify our programs and course offerings.

Candidates must be qualified to teach a shared rotation of introductory courses in philosophy, logic, aesthetics, or ethics. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Philosophy with areas of competence in interdisciplinary subjects that can help us build connections across campus, especially medical ethics, business ethics, sport ethics, philosophy of race, philosophy of religion, philosophy of technology, and/or environmental ethics.

The ideal candidate will be an engaging teacher who is effective at recruitment and passionate about helping our students grow personally and academically. The teaching load for this position is four courses per semester. Opportunities for summer teaching are also available.
