Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at West Virginia University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 2020. A doctorate in philosophy by the time of appointment is required. The successful candidate is expected to develop an excellent program of research in the area of ethics and excel at teaching undergraduate courses in ethical theory, health care ethics, and some of the following: environmental ethics; ethics in science and technology; ethics in human enhancement and artificial intelligence; food ethics; social and global justice. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the land-grant mission of the university by collaborating on WVU initiatives that aim to make a positive ethical impact on our community and the world. AOS: Ethics AOC: Health care ethics and at least one of the following: environmental ethics; ethics in science and technology; ethics in human enhancement and artificial intelligence; food ethics; social and global justice. The teaching load is three courses per semester. The WVU Philosophy Department is an intellectually vibrant, supportive, and collegial undergraduate program with all of the opportunities and expectations of a research university. WVU is a comprehensive, land-grant, research university located in Morgantown, WV, and is home to approximately 29,000 students. The Morgantown metro-region has a population of approximately 130,000, and is frequently ranked as one of the best college towns in the US.
