Job description

The Department of Philosophy, Bates College, in Lewiston, Maine, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position stating Fall 2020. AOS and AOC are open. Candidates should have a Philosophy Ph.D. completed or nearly complete. Bates College has a 5-course teaching responsibility. The Bates academic calendar includes two regular semesters (Fall and Winter) and a short four-week May term, with a teaching schedule of either 2-3 or 2-2-1. Teaching will include two sections of Introduction to Philosophy scheduled for Fall term 2020. For Winter term 2021, the visiting faculty member will teach either Ancient Philosophy or Moral Philosophy. The other two courses will be matched to the interests of the new faculty member.
