Postdoctoral Researcher – Social Cognition Job category: postdoc, fixed term The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning September 2020, funded by the University of Toronto’s Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society. The successful applicant will engage in philosophical research on social cognition; they will also participate in regular interdisciplinary lab meetings at the Institute, focusing on human regulation of artificial intelligence. The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto is widely recognized as Canada’s best and most comprehensive philosophy department and as an international leader in the field. The University of Toronto’s newly launched Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society brings together researchers from across disciplines to focus on the ethical and social implications of emerging technologies. Required qualifications: Applicants must have completed all requirements for their doctorate by August 31, 2020. Candidates must also be no more than 5 years from the awarding of their degree as of the start date for the position.
