DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Normal instructional duties for this position will include teaching one face-to-face logic course per year (in either the fall or spring semester) and serving as the instructor of record for two 8-week, online sessions of both PHIL 102 Logic and Reasoning and PHIL 103 Logic and Reasoning QR II in each of the fall and spring semesters. While teaching professorial appointments are, as the name implies, teaching focused, the title of “professor” also comes with expectations that the person holding it engages with and contributes to a scholarly community in ways that go beyond teaching alone. Thus, teaching professors are expected not only to teach but also to engage in research activities that enhance the reputation of the department and to provide service to the department, campus, and/or profession. QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in philosophy or a related discipline and appropriate background in AOS are required. Prior experience in teaching and/or developing online courses is desired. SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track appointment, renewable yearly subject to positive performance evaluations. Funding has been secured for the position for 3 years and the position is potentially renewable past 3 years, subject to enrollments, funding, and positive performance evaluations. The expected start date is August 16, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
