Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno is hiring a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020. Primary responsibilities will include teaching the equivalent of six courses per year (three per semester). Teaching responsibilities will include courses in both Core Humanities (an interdisciplinary general education program at UNR) and the Department of Philosophy. The Department currently has a curricular need for history of philosophy, with ancient philosophy being a particular need. The fellow may also serve on departmental committees.

Required Qualifications

A PhD in philosophy. The awarding of the degree must be no earlier than May 2016 and no later than August 2020.

Department Information

The Department of Philosophy administers BA and MA degree programs, with two tracks at the undergraduate level, one in general philosophy, and the other in ethics, law, and politics. The department has about 80 majors, and an equal number of minors. In recent years, the department has experienced growth in the number of faculty, research productivity, and external funding awards. The department expects to play a noteworthy role in the university's long-term expansion plans through its course offerings and interdisciplinary collaboration.
