The Division of Humanities of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is searching for a suitable candidate to fill a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the discipline of Philosophy at the rank of either Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor. The position is to be filled beginning in Fall 2021. The successful candidate will take part in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses mainly offered by the Division. The field of specialization is open, with preference for Daoism, Classical Chinese Philosophy, Comparative Philosophy, or Moral and Political Philosophy to complement the research areas of the existing faculty. Candidates whose research interests are cross-border, comparative and interdisciplinary are particularly welcome to apply.
Applicants should have a PhD degree from a reputable university with a publication record of international impact, a strong record of grant application, proven teaching commitment and performance, experience and readiness in administrative matters, demonstrated service to the academic community and/or the public. Leadership qualities in research, teaching and/or service are expected. English is the medium of instruction and administration at HKUST but proficiency in Chinese will be an advantage. Apart from a master’s degree program in Chinese Culture and research postgraduate degree program at both master’s and doctoral level under the broad umbrella of Humanities, the Division of Humanities offers general education courses for all undergraduates at HKUST. Together with the Division of Social Science, the Division of Humanities offers a multidisciplinary undergraduate major program of BSc in Global China Studies.
