Assistant or Associate Professor in Philosophy

The Department is looking for a candidate who can contribute to the strong teaching and research reputation of the Philosophy Department. We are looking for an expert in contemporary social and political philosophy (including critical theory) OR in the philosophy of physics, philosophy of logic and/or mathematics. Please indicate clearly in your application pack for which post you are applying. The starting date for the post is September 2013, but complex administrative requirements both within and beyond METU mean that the prospective post-holder must be confirmed on both sides by January 2013 for the hiring process to be completed by September.

Applicants will have a Ph.D. in a relevant area, evidence of teaching experience, excellent teaching evaluations, and a record of publications of original research in indexed journals. They will need in the first instance to be able to contribute to teaching on existing courses, and also to develop courses to complement the current undergraduate and postgraduate provision.

Candidates will be required to share in the administration of the Philosophy degrees and to supervise M.A. and Ph.D. theses. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience. Course load is 3/3.
