Oklahoma Baptist University seeks candidates for Assistant Professor of Philosophy. Professor is required to teach in the academic discipline and field of Philosophy, including a variety of courses, which include Worldview, and Apologetics.
Responsible to:
- teach twenty four credit hours of university, philosophy courses; eligible to teach an additional six credit hours annually to meet university institutional needs.
- select textbooks, write course syllabi, develop and deliver the content of each course, evaluate and grade students.
- remain informed and up to date in their fields of study and teaching. Required to recommend and develop changes and improvements to the curriculum in those disciplines.
- advise and counsel students, serve on university committees, contribute to professional scholarly field by research and writing, as well as make presentations at scholarly societies.
- support church and civic organizations and provide service in some manner to his community as a part of his position at the university.
Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent. An ability to contribute effectively to OBUs mission as a Baptist institution of higher learning.
Experience: Needs expertise to teach freshman level classes as well as upper. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively; possess strong interpersonal skills; possess an intermediate knowledge of office and classroom technology. Must have experience teaching as a full-time professor in a Baptist University in the field of Philosophy, Christian worldview, and Apologetics. It is also preferred that the candidate have experience in vocational Christian ministry in Baptist churches.
