Associate Professor/Chair

Department of History and Philosophy at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN invites applications for Department Chair, effective August, 2013.  The department offers BA and BS degrees in both disciplines and an MA in Military History and has established working relationships with military at local and national levels.  Chair expected to foster these relationships.

The Department Chair provides vision and leadership for a large department of 24 full-time and 26 part-time faculty, 2 staff, 6 graduate assistants, 6 undergraduate student workers, approximately 250 undergraduate and 30 graduate student history majors, and 20 philosophy undergraduate majors.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in History or Philosophy (or related discipline provided at least 18 graduate SH in either History or Philosophy). 
• Must be able to teach in either History or Philosophy.
• A minimum of five years teaching/leading/administering in academic setting.
• Demonstrated success as a leader.
• Successful background check (of the chosen candidate).
