| Details | Islamic Studies: Modern Islam/Global Islam/Contemporary Islamic Studies. The University of Notre Dame invites applications for a newly established tenured or tenure-track faculty position dedicated to the study of contemporary Islam. The successful applicant will bring expertise in Islamic cultures, worldviews and practices, with regional specialization, discipline and approach within Islamic studies open. We welcome applications from scholars with a variety of interests although we are especially interested in scholars with expertise in Islamic social and political activism; Muslim-Christian relations; Islamic ethics of war and peace; and Islam, human rights and economic development. In addition to her or his normal teaching and research responsibilities, the scholar will be expected to contribute to a new, interdisciplinary research initiative, entitled "Contending Modernities: Catholic, Muslim, Secular."
