Concordia University Wisconsin seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in Philosophy beginning in the 2013-2014 academic year. This position is in the Theology and Philosophy Department in the School of Arts and Sciences.
Responsibilities: Primary teaching responsibilities will include introductory courses in philosophy and a variety of classes in ethics required by our professional programs, in addition to courses in the candidate's area of specialization and interest. The ideal candidate will assist in developing classes that serve the needs and interests of other departments and which also help to promote the major and minor in philosophy. Education and Experience: A doctorate in Philosophy or Ethics is preferred although highly qualified applicants demonstrating significant progress toward a doctorate (ABD) will be considered. Academic preparation and teaching experience in relevant areas is desirable. Candidates should be supportive of Lutheran doctrine and LCMS candidates who are not ordained ministers are expected to hold (or be willing to complete) certification as commissioned ministers. Candidates should be competent to teach ethics and the history of philosophy and have a strong interest in Christian apologetics; they should display the ability to teach philosophy accurately yet engage its claims effectively from the perspective of Christian faith; and they should articulate clearly how their teaching would connect to Concordia's mission as a Lutheran institution of higher education.
