Job description |
Lecturers are appointed for a 3-year term. Reappointment to subsequent terms of three years and then terms of six years dependent upon superior teaching, funding, and need. Not tenure track. Contingent on funding. Beginning September 2013. Seven courses over three quarters. Salary competitive; benefits eligible. AOS: Open. Must be qualified to teach lower division courses in ethics and applied ethics (ability to teach business ethics is desirable). And must be able to develop a two-quarter Cultures & Ideas sequence. This two-quarter sequence can focus either on the history of philosophy or on a theme suitable for introducing philosophy to first year students, and must include a significant non-western component. Ability to teach a two quarter, writing intensive Critical Thinking sequence is also desirable. Ph.D. prior to appointment. Commitment to the highest quality undergraduate teaching is essential. Complete dossier must arrive in the Philosophy Department Office by January 9, 2013, including CV, graduate transcripts when appropriate, three letters of recommendation, student evaluations of your teaching, an example of representative scholarship, and a personal statement covering teaching philosophy, research plans, and experience working with people of diverse cultures and identities.
