Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Mount Allison University invites applications for a twelve-month position as McCainPost-Doctoral Fellow. Candidates should have or be near completion of a PhD in Philosophy. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a promising research profile. The teaching requirement is two undergraduate courses per term. We invite applications from all specializations of philosophy but the Department has a particular interest in applications from candidates specializing in philosophy of race, Africana philosophy, Indigenous philosophy, and/or social and political philosophy. Preparedness to teach a second-year course on aesthetics and/or a third-year course on philosophy of disability is desirable but not required. Historically-informed approaches are preferred, in keeping with the department’s commitment to the importance of the history of philosophy, broadly construed. The appointment will commence July 1, 2021, subject to budgetary approval. Submissions are comprised of: (i) a letter of application which includes a brief statement of current research, (ii) a curriculum vitae, and (iii) a teaching dossier which includes, but is not limited to, a brief statement of teaching philosophy and a summary of teaching experience. Longlisted applicants should be prepared to submit three letters of reference, official or unofficial transcripts, and a sample of writing.
