The Philosophy Department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse seeks a multi-faceted generalist for a full time academic year tenure-track position, starting fall semester, 2013. Areas of Specialization: Open. Areas of Competence: Ancient Greek Philosophy, Logic. We are seeking foremost an engaging teacher and scholar who can inspire students in the Philosophy major/minor and the University's General Education Program. Teaching duties include regularly teaching History of Ancient Greek Philosophy and courses in Logic. The Philosophy Department values diversity and faculty who bring diverse experiences to their teaching.
The successful candidate would enhance our curriculum in at least two of the following: Continental Philosophy, Experimental Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Law, Symbolic Logic, Latin American Philosophy, Middle-Eastern Philosophy and African Philosophy. The department is seeking a dynamic philosopher who is looking to teach motivated students in a collegial, supportive and collaborative environment. The official teaching load is 4 sections per semester, with 3 preparations per semester. The teaching of double sections of introductory courses is an option. Summer teaching may be available. Ph.D. preferred at time of application, required by date of appointment.
