The Centre for Ethics and Law in the Life Sciences (CELLS) at the Institute of Philosophy, Leibniz Universität Hannover, and the Institute for History and Ethics of Medicine, Hannover Medical School, invites applications for

Up to 3 Research Fellows (Salary scale E-13 TV-L (50%-100% FTE))

To be appointed on 1 February 2013 or earlier, pending authorisation of funding. The positions are initially limited to 2 years. An extension by a further 2,5 years is possible, pending an evaluation.

The positions are part of the Cluster of Excellence REBIRTH (www.rebirth­hannover.de) and will be working on ELSI aspects of regenerative medicine and biomedical research on various levels, including empirical and theoretical research.

It is expected that the fellows will have previous experience and research interests in relevant fields such as:

  1. Biomaterials, tissues and genetics;
  2. Enhancement and anthropotechnology;
  3. Informed consent, ethics review, guidances.

To qualify for the positions, applicants are expected to hold at least a master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (such as philosophy, medicine, law, biology, public health etc) and intend to pursue research for a PhD or a habilitation in one of the fields outlined above.
