Job description |
The Management Department of the College of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track position specializing in Business Ethics and Sustainability at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The Department invites those with research and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: moral philosophy and applied ethics (business ethics, environmental ethics, development equity and justice issues); corporate environmental management; environmental and social sustainability; corporate social responsibility; environmental science and management. Interests in a secondary area within the management discipline are also invited, preferably in the areas of social entrepreneurship, strategy, international business, or alternative economic systems. The successful candidate would primarily be expected to teach an upper-division college core course covering CSR topics, titled “Business Ethics and Sustainability.” Additionally, there is room for the candidate to develop and teach an elective course related to their research and expertise. Teaching load is competitive for R2 institutions. Opportunities exist for summer research grants, underwritten travel to professional conferences, and other international travel. The appointment involves teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as active involvement in the LMU Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainability. At the Assistant level, a Ph.D. (conferred by August 2022 at latest) in Management, Philosophy, Environmental Management, or equivalent is required. Candidates are expected to conduct research and show commitment to effective teaching. At the Associate level, in addition to the requirements for the Assistant level, candidates are expected to maintain successful research and publication activity. With regard to tenure, applicants should either currently meet institutional requirements for tenure and promotion or demonstrate strong evidence of the capacity and desire to engage in scholarship toward tenure. The department is committed to advancing research and providing effective teaching. The ideal candidate will demonstrate interest and potential to engage in collaborative and inter-disciplinary research and teaching across domains relevant to business ethics and sustainability. Industry experience and connections are appreciated but not required. The College of Business Administration at LMU is a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education and we seek applicants who share our commitment to these principles and the Sustainable Development Goals. The Management department is interdisciplinary, with faculty members spanning various areas of management research and teaching. We are a collaborative and inclusive group of scholars who often work together in multiple capacities and are committed to an environment that embraces a diversity of research topics and methodological approaches.
