Description
The Department of Philosophy at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2021-22 academic year. This is a full-‐time position with a teaching load of 4-5 courses, three of which will be taught in the spring semester. Candidates will have the option of teaching 1-2 courses in the fall, one of which will be a 200-level political philosophy course. A possible second course would either be Introduction to Philosophy or a course of their choosing agreed to by the Philosophy Department. Preference will be given to those able to teach philosophy of law and philosophy of race and racism in the Spring 2022 semester. Salary and benefits are competitive. The successful candidate must have an earned PhD or ABD status, and will be able to contribute courses to HWS’s interdisciplinary programs which include Africana Studies, Asian Studies, LGBT Studies, and Social Justice Studies.
