Job description

Located on a beautiful campus in Denver, the University of Denver is the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain region, which describes itself as a private university dedicated to the public good. DU enrolls over 11,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Philosophy at the University of Denver is a vibrant department with seven tenure lines. Our department offers a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Philosophy through a dual MA program, respectively. We also contribute to the Joint Doctoral Program in Religion that the University of Denver shares with the Iliff School of Theology.

Position Summary

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, effective September 1, 2022. Area of specialization and areas of concentration are open. The position teaches five courses per year over three, ten-week quarters (Autumn, Winter, and Spring). We are interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, research, and service.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching five courses over three quarters.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in philosophy, or related field, received before date of appointment.
  • Strong commitment to successful teaching and scholarship.
  • A clearly defined research and publication agenda.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A record of strong teaching experience.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
