Assistant or Associate Professor (EXPIRED)

The Philosophy Department at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia is excited to announce that it is hiring a full time faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

The department is especially interested in those whose work in the history of modern philosophy relates to ethics and/or aesthetics as well as those who can teach courses for a wide audience (that is, interdisciplinary and general education courses for non-philosophy majors as well as for philosophy majors).

Responsibilities: For the first year, this person’s teaching load will be 2/2 and it could increase to 4 or 5 courses per year thereafter, depending on the needs of the Department. In general, this person will teach introductory and advanced undergraduate philosophy courses, graduate seminars, and general education courses designed for wider audiences. Research Funding: New assistant professors at Universidad de los Andes are eligible for a start-up research fund for the first three years.

Requirements for the position: Ph.D. in Philosophy required (in hand before the conclusion of January 2022). Teaching experience in a wide variety of courses strongly preferred. 

Start date: January 2022.

Language of Instruction: The language of instruction is Spanish, and the successful candidate will be expected to teach in that language from the beginning.
