Job description

The McDonough Center is seeking candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Leadership studies. This is a new, full time, tenure-track position. 

Responsibilities will include teaching sections of the core courses in the curriculum including: Foundations of Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Theories and Models of Leadership, and global Leadership. Opportunities exist for teaching courses specific to the successful candidate's area of research as it relates to Leadership Studies. Professors are expected to show evidence for a commitment to professional growth and development as well as to service; however, excellent teaching is paramount. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. in Leadership Studies or a field related to Leadership Studies (such as philosophy, ethics, communication studies, political science, history or psychology). ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the post-secondary level.
  • Broad knowledge of various methodologies used to study leadership.
  • Commitment to a Liberal Arts approach to leadership studies.
  • Successful scholarly research agenda in the area of Leadership Studies (or willingness to develop a research agenda in the area of Leadership Studies and specific discipline).
  • Evidence of a commitment to student learning and diverse pedagogies such as undergraduate research, service learning, and civic engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy (Ethics) or scholarly research in the area of Ethics as it related to Leadership Studies.
