Job description |
The School of Divinity, History, Philosophy and History of Art seeks to appoint a full-time, permanent Lecturer (Teaching and Research) in Philosophy. The Lecturer will have a research and teaching specialization in Applied Ethics broadly construed. The specialization within Applied Ethics is open. It may include, for instance, applied aspects of social and political philosophy as well as 'non-Western' philosophical traditions. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Philosophy, and a record of high-quality publications and academic activities commensurate with career stage. The Lecturer will contribute to the research activities of the Centre for Knowledge and Society, such as conferences, seminars, and public engagement events. Essential is a profile and an interest in topics and approaches that generate impact, e.g. by collaborating with experts from other disciplines and non-academic stakeholders. The Lecturer will teach across the Philosophy curriculum at both undergraduate and graduate levels. A broad teaching competence in practical philosophy is a distinct asset. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7, £42,149 - £50,296 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. This role is based in the UK and as such the successful candidate will be required to live and work in the UK. Should you require a visa to undertake employment in the UK you will be required to fulfil the minimum points criteria to be granted a Certificate of Sponsorship under the requirements of the Skilled Worker visa. At the time an offer of appointment is made, you will be asked to demonstrate that you fulfil the criteria in respect of qualification and competency in English.
