Job description

Louisiana Tech University seeks to fill the position of Assoc./Full Professor of Philosophy and Director of the School of History and Social Sciences.

The ideal candidate will have some administrative experience at the departmental or unit level, especially in budgeting, personnel, scheduling, recruitment, and curriculum design. Along with the usual administrative duties, the candidate will teach two classes per quarter, and be tasked to develop our philosophy minor, which has shown considerable growth in recent years, into a major. , This is a 12-month appointment. Position open until filled.

Salary: Commensurate to academic rank and experience

Qualifications: 

  • Terminal degree in one of the areas currently taught in the School, with preference given to a specialization in philosophy or related area
  • Record of publication and academic accomplishment, commensurate with appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level
  • Administrative experience at the departmental or unit level, especially in budgeting, scheduling, recruitment, and curriculum design
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse faculty and student body
